Vikram Solar continues to expand its presence in India’s rapidly growing solar energy market, with recent developments focused on domestic manufacturing, module supply and strengthening the solar-cell supply chain.
One of the latest developments is the company’s 1 GW domestic solar-cell supply agreement with Avaada Electro. Under the agreement, Avaada Electro will supply ALMM-compliant, domestically manufactured half-cut N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells to Vikram Solar. Supplies are scheduled to begin in September 2026. The arrangement is aimed at improving supply continuity and supporting Vikram Solar’s participation in India’s Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) market.
Vikram Solar has also secured a 124 MW module supply order for a solar project in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The company will supply high-efficiency G12R TOPCon modules with capacities ranging from 620 Wp to 630 Wp, with deliveries scheduled to start in October 2026. According to the company, the order adds to its growing presence in India’s utility-scale solar segment.
The company is simultaneously increasing its manufacturing capabilities. Vikram Solar has scaled its module manufacturing capacity to 15.5 GW, while its planned solar-cell expansion includes a 9 GW first phase expected to be commissioned in FY27. This forms part of a broader strategy to increase vertical integration and strengthen domestic solar manufacturing.
Another important development is the expansion of manufacturing in Tamil Nadu, where Vikram Solar has commissioned its Gangaikondan facility. The company has described the facility as an important step in expanding its domestic solar PV manufacturing footprint.
These developments come as India continues to expand its solar manufacturing ecosystem. Recent industry data indicates that India added substantial module and cell manufacturing capacity during the first half of 2026, reflecting strong investment across the sector.
Overall, Vikram Solar’s recent activities highlight three major areas of focus: expanding module production, securing domestic solar-cell supplies and increasing participation in India’s DCR-driven solar market. The company’s upcoming manufacturing projects and new supply orders will remain important developments to watch as India accelerates its renewable-energy transition.
