India’s electric vehicle industry continues to evolve, and Mahindra & Mahindra is strengthening its position through electric SUVs, charging infrastructure and electric three-wheelers. Recent developments highlight the company’s growing focus on making electric mobility more accessible to Indian customers.
Mahindra Electric SUVs Cross 1 Lakh Billings
One of the biggest recent developments is that Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUV portfolio has crossed 1 lakh cumulative billings since launch, according to reports published in October 2026. Models such as the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S form an important part of Mahindra’s electric vehicle strategy, targeting customers looking for modern styling, connected technology, comfort and zero tailpipe emissions.
BE 6 SPORTEQ Introduces Updated Features
Mahindra recently introduced the BE 6 SPORTEQ, an updated version of its electric SUV. The model features a revised colour palette, an updated interior and a new 70 kWh battery option. The company is also expanding customer purchasing options through its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, which separates vehicle and battery financing.
This approach could help make electric SUV ownership more accessible to buyers who prefer a lower initial vehicle payment.
Charge_iN Network Expands Across India
Charging infrastructure remains essential for EV adoption. On September 24, Mahindra announced that its Charge_iN public fast-charging network had expanded to 50 live locations and more than 200 operational charging points across India.
The company also announced plans to grow the network to 250 stations with approximately 1,000 charging points by December 2027. Its collaboration with HPCL includes a charging location on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, supporting electric vehicle users travelling between cities.
Electric Three-Wheelers Drive Growth
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility is also expanding its electric mobility business. A report published on October 8 stated that the division had sold more than 80,000 electric vehicles through September 2026, representing 58% growth. The company is evaluating a near-doubling of manufacturing capacity and plans to introduce eight new products and variants.
Outlook for Mahindra EV
Mahindra’s progress across electric SUVs, public charging and electric three-wheelers demonstrates a broader strategy for India’s changing mobility market. Continued investment in charging access, battery technology, manufacturing and customer-focused financing may support future growth.
For buyers, the next important factors will be vehicle pricing, real-world driving range, charging convenience, battery warranty and after-sales service. These will determine how successfully Mahindra converts growing interest in electric vehicles into long-term adoption.
