Adani Solar continues to strengthen its position in India’s solar manufacturing industry as domestic demand for renewable energy equipment grows. The company’s latest reported developments focus on manufacturing expansion, advanced solar cell technology and increasing production capacity to support India’s clean energy ambitions.
According to Adani Enterprises’ FY 2026 annual business review, Adani Solar has established manufacturing capacity across solar cells, modules, ingots and wafers. Its manufacturing operations are based in Mundra, Gujarat, where the company is developing an integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem.
Global Ranking Highlights Adani Solar’s Progress
One of the company’s significant achievements reported in 2026 was its sixth-place global ranking in Wood Mackenzie’s Global Solar PV Module Manufacturer Rankings. The June 2026 industry report placed Adani Solar among the leading manufacturers worldwide and identified it as the highest-ranked Indian company in the assessment.
Manufacturing Expansion and TOPCon Technology
Adani Solar’s manufacturing strategy includes advanced Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) solar cell technology, which can deliver higher conversion efficiency than many conventional cell technologies.
The company’s FY 2026 business review reported 4 GW of solar cell capacity, 4 GW of module capacity and 2 GW of ingot-wafer capacity. It also outlined plans to add 6 GW of TOPCon cell capacity and 6 GW of module capacity during FY 2026–27, targeting cumulative cell and module capacities of 10 GW each. These figures describe its reported capacity and expansion plans, not necessarily fully commissioned production as of today.
India’s Renewable Energy Market Creates New Opportunities
India’s growing solar market offers opportunities in residential rooftop installations, commercial and industrial projects, utility-scale solar parks and government-supported solar programmes. Domestic manufacturing can help strengthen supply chains and support the country’s energy security goals.
At the same time, manufacturers face challenges including global price competition, raw material costs, technology upgrades and the need to maintain consistent product quality.
