Ola’s latest launch—the Ola Shakti home-backup battery system, priced at about ₹1.2 lakh—marks Bhavish Aggarwal’s renewed push to build growth beyond the company’s struggling two-wheeler segment. Powered by Ola’s 4680 “Bharat Cell” technology, the device is positioned as a premium alternative to the conventional inverter systems that currently dominate India’s household backup market.
Aggarwal told analysts that he expects the new product line to generate around ₹100 crore in revenue in the March quarter and scale to ₹1,000 crore by FY27—an ambitious goal that would account for nearly a third of Ola’s projected revenue this year. While the home-inverter market is sizable, it remains extremely price-sensitive and is led by affordable lead-acid solutions backed by strong distribution networks.
According to Bloomberg, Bhavish Aggarwal is placing significant focus on a new home-battery venture in an effort to steady Ola Electric amid falling sales, cautious investors, and rising financial strain. The move represents yet another bold shift for Aggarwal, whose pattern of rapid expansions and swift pivots has shaped Ola’s journey—often pushing the company faster than it can maintain consistent performance.
